I have my dream job! Not only do I work in a state-of-the-art dental practice, but as an orthodontist, I get to use my love for science, art and people every day. Although I enjoy the detailed nature of my work, my true passion is getting to know each patient and creating a smile that reflects how unique, amazing and beautiful that patient truly is.
My love for learning began at an early age. I grew up in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School. I moved to Virginia for college, attending Washington & Lee University where I studied biology, art and Spanish and graduated cum laude. After spending time writing for a pharmaceutical journal, I returned to Dallas for dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry. I continued my dental education at Baylor, specializing in orthodontics and earning a master’s degree in oral biology in 2008. The areas in which I have additional training and experience are laser dentistry, mini-implants, lingual orthodontics, aesthetic orthodontic treatment and multidisciplinary treatment involving jaw surgery.
I am known among my colleagues for being caring and going the extra mile for each patient, but also for thinking outside of the traditional treatment "box." I believe that each patient is unique and accordingly, so should his or her treatment be. I love getting to design a treatment that takes into account a patient’s hopes, desires and goals. I believe that by taking a team approach to orthodontics, patients are more motivated, excited and satisfied with the end result.
Outside of the office, I am dedicated to growing personally and professionally and to that end, I serve in a number of volunteer and leadership positions. Currently, I serve as a mediator for the Dallas County Dental Society Peer Review Committee and as a mentor for our graduate students at my alma mater. As of July, I completed my five year tenure on the Baylor Orthodontic Alumni Board and now serve as immediate past president. I also recently completed a three year tenure as a co-chairman for the American Association of Orthodontics Annual Session. I am an active member with the Dallas County Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, The Southwest Society of Orthodontics and the American Association of Orthodontics.
Outside of the office, I am constantly on the go, keeping up with my 7 year old son, Sloan, and our dogs, a collie named Stella and a border collie named Peaches. There is never a dull moment in our household! Whether I am serving as a room mother for my son’s school or organizing play dates, my goal is to approach each day with excitement and a smile. When we aren’t biking, swimming or trying a new activity as a family, I enjoy relaxing at home, painting, and cooking. One of the biggest blessings in my life is that I have lots of family in close proximity and I cherish our family meals and holidays together.
